Summary
Join our team as an Operations Field Engineer, where you will play a crucial role in installing, maintaining, and repairing telecommunications equipment and networks. Ideal candidates will have a strong background in telecom, particularly wireless, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
Key Technical Skills
- 3 to 5 years of hands-on technical skills
- Background in telecom, particularly wireless, with an understanding of cell site or wireless installation operations
- Familiarity with basic RF principles
- Basic understanding of site construction, from blueprints to final product
- Ability to act as on-ground support for network and equipment operations
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 suite of tools
Key Responsibilities
- Install, maintain, and repair telecommunications equipment, including fiber optic cables, copper cables, switches, routers, and modems
- Conduct site surveys to assess network and construction requirements
- Troubleshoot and resolve network problems, including service interruptions and equipment failures
- Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as cleaning equipment, checking connections, and updating software
- Assist in the installation and configuration of new network equipment
- Adhere to all safety regulations and procedures while working in the field
- Provide technical support to customers and end-users
- Document all work performed and maintain accurate records
Required Certifications/Education
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Industry telecommunications certifications preferred
Additional Requirements
- Possess basic hand tools, including screwdrivers, nut drivers, wire cutters/strippers, multi-meter, etc.
- Valid driver's license
- Experience with Microwave hardware, assembly, installation, and decommissioning is a plus
- Basic theoretical knowledge of RF principles
- General knowledge of telecommunications CRM/Databases
- Knowledge of various telecommunications protocols (e.g., TCP/IP)
- Experience implementing wireless networks
- Familiarity with industry-specific software applications
Physical Demands/Work Environment
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and crouching
- Ability to lift and carry heavy equipment
- Ability to perform certain job tasks using a 6’ ladder
- Primarily outdoor work, with occasional indoor work
- Expected to attend certain meetings and be customer-facing
- Exposure to various environmental factors, including noise, vibration, and varying climates
